My Approach to Counselling

At MnM’s Counselling & Wellness, I believe counselling should be collaborative, respectful and individualized. There is no single approach that works for everyone, so sessions are adapted to each client’s needs, goals, strengths and experiences.

My goal is to provide support that is holistic, engaging and practical, while creating a space where clients feel heard, respected and comfortable being themselves.

Counselling should feel human.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT explores the connection between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours. It can help clients recognize patterns that may be contributing to difficulties and develop practical strategies for responding differently.

CBT may be particularly helpful when working with concerns such as anxiety, low mood, negative thinking, emotional regulation, self-esteem and stress.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy places emphasis on strengths, possibilities and meaningful change.

Rather than focusing only on what’s going wrong, we can also explore what’s already working, identify existing strengths and develop realistic steps toward the changes you would like to see.

Person-Centred Approach

Person-Centred Approach

I believe that clients should have an active voice in their counselling.

My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life. Instead, I aim to provide a respectful and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your experiences, better understand yourself and determine what meaningful change looks like for you.

Whole-Person & Experience-Informed Counselling

I look beyond symptoms to understand the whole person — including your experiences, relationships, environment, strengths, values and goals.

My professional background also includes culturally responsive and trauma-informed work, so emotional safety, choice, collaboration and respect are important parts of how I approach counselling. Difficult experiences can be explored at a pace that feels manageable to you

Additional Approaches

Depending on the client’s needs and goals, counselling may also incorporate elements of:

Motivational Interviewing • Narrative Therapy • Family Systems • Mindfulness • Self-Compassion • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

These approaches are integrated thoughtfully rather than using the same method with every client.

What You Can Expect From Me

Clients can expect counselling that is:

Warm & Approachable

Warm & Approachable

I want counselling to feel like a genuine conversation rather than an overly clinical interaction.

Collaborative

Collaborative

We work together. Your experiences, goals and preferences help guide the counselling process.

Strength-Based

Strength-Based

Challenges are important, but they don’t define you. We’ll also recognize the strengths, abilities and resilience you already have.

Practical

Practical

Where appropriate, we’ll develop strategies and tools that can be used outside of counselling in everyday life.

You deserve a space where you can speak openly and be treated with dignity and respect.

My goal is to be the kind of support that can sometimes feel difficult to find—or difficult to accept.

Let’s take the first step together.
